Denial of service vulnerability in Python via a file size valueID: oval:org.secpod.oval:def:17565 | Date: (C)2014-05-01 (M)2022-09-09 |
Class: VULNERABILITY | Family: windows |
The host is installed with Python 3.3.x before 3.3.3 and is prone to denial of service vulnerability. The flaw is present in the application, which fails to properly handle a file size value larger than the size of the zip file to the (1) ZipExtFile.read, (2) ZipExtFile.read(n), (3) ZipExtFile.readlines, (4) ZipFile.extract, or (5) ZipFile.extractall function. Successful exploitation allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop and CPU consumption).
